About the Department:

Agriculture has remained in highlights throughout entire history. It contributes to the national economy in terms of production while it has opened new dimensions in other sectors of economy as well. The current challenges and threats need a fresh look in the context of changed environment especially with the emergence of world trade organizations.
The college has a vision to impart quality education to the weaker sections of society with a mission of educational empowerment of predominating rural and agrarian population. The college decided to introduce the Agriculture as an elective subject for B.A. & B.Sc. students in 2011-12. The main purpose was to introduce the latest technology available in agriculture to the people. So that they can look towards Agri business as an option. In the year 2015-16 college introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Agriculture (PGDAA). The college has well equipped laboratory. The college library is well stocked with related magazines like Changi Kheti and Progressive Farming which provide current knowledge to the teachers and students.

 Scope of Biochemistry :

  • Provide knowledge to the students regarding Indian Forest Services (Equivalent to IAS).
  • Give information to the students regarding different agricultural industries.
  • Provide various agriculture research skills to the students
  • Give information to the students about subsidies in agricultural sector for their start up.
  • Provide information about various government job opportunities
  • Give knowledge regarding different private agriculture companies such as Bayer crop science, Monsanto, Syngenta etc.as job opportunity.
  • Socio-economic uplift of the students

  • There are lots of opportunities for agriculture technocrats in agriculture production sector and processing sector
  • Organic food products are two to three time more price than conventional farming and new techniques need to be followed for advancement of this sector.

  • Various government and private industries for student’s absorption.
  • Non conventional food production techniques provided to the students

    Weakness:

  • Students of kandi area are poor financial conditions. So, few students afford for PG degrees
  • Students and local people are not fully aware regarding different job sources or subsidies for their start up.

    Challenges:

  • Migration of students for developed countries .
  • Crisis in education
